How to Clean a Dirty Stove-top
Is your stove top dirty? Have you let it get a little... out of hand? Are there crumbs, stuck on old sauces, and the dreaded GREASE? Has the grime gotten underneath the burner plates? Don't be intimidated! Even if it's been a few ...months... since its last good cleaning, we can get your stove sparkling in just 15 minutes.
Your stove can't wait any longer. Let's get started.
Step 1
Remove the grates. Set aside.
Step 2
Remove burner plates. Wipe up and throw away any obvious crumbs and spills that can be easily wiped up with your rag. Set burner plates aside.
Step 3
Wipe up crumbs. Now that your stove top is empty, wipe up and throw away any obvious crumbs and spills that can be easily wiped up with your rag.
Step 4
Spray a degreaser. Spray your empty stove top all over with a degreaser and let it sit for a minute or two. I used my Rayburn's Naturals Castile Soap Flakes. It cuts through grease and grime like a champ and I can still breathe through the process. No chemicals please in my home!
Remember to spray the forgotten areas on your stove as well, by the button power panel and clock, and the knobs to turn the burners on. These just need a light spray.
Step 5
Rinse the burner plates in your sink. Then generously sprinkle a gentle abrasive cleaner to start working on the stuck-on grime. I used Rayburn's Naturals Sink, Stove-top, and Pots & Pans cleaner. Use warm to hot water to loosen everything up. Rinse. Use more cleaner if necessary until plates are fully clean.
Step 6
Wipe down grates. You can either soak your grates (I did not do that this time) or wipe down each prong on your grate. Steel wool works well for this step.
Step 7
Reassemble your stove. Appreciate the shine. The question is, will you start cooking or wait?
